Welcome

My name is Mrs. Backmon, and I am excited to be the school counselor at Hopkins Elementary School. My primary responsibility is to promote the academic, personal, and social development of all students. Counseling services consist of classroom guidance, support groups, and individual sessions. I will be visiting each classroom to discuss topics such as respect, responsibility, bullying, honesty, careers, friendship, and generosity. I use a variety of techniques such as songs, art, and stories to help children grasp these concepts. Groups and individual sessions are voluntary and are offered to all students. Any student can request to meet with me, or they can be referred by a teacher, administrator, or parent.
